Urology

Urology is a medical specialty concerned with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases in the field of urine-forming and urinary organs as well as male reproductive organs.

Urine-forming and urinary organs include the urinary bladder, ureters, urethra and kidney. The treatment of male sexual organs comprises diseases of the testicles, epididymis, spermatic duct, seminal vesicle, penis and the prostate. Besides the actual therapy of the diseases, attention is also paid to the preservation of the nerves, i.e. also of the erectile function and continence of the man. That means the specialist for urology must be surgically well trained and familiar with minimally invasive surgical techniques.
